Men's Basketball TRU WolfPack

Former top-rated Manitoban recruit poised to bolster ‘Pack

KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team has added another impact transfer from south of the border with the announcement that Dami Farinloye will join the 'Pack.

"We are thrilled to announce that Dami Farinloye will be wearing the black and orange this upcoming fall," said WolfPack head coach Chad Jacobson. "Dami is an experienced player coming to us after spending the past three seasons south of the border at the NCAA Division II level. Having Dami return to Canada and be able to step into an impactful role with our team is a great addition for us."

From Winnipeg, MB where he played for Vincent Massey Collegiate, Farinloye has spent the last three years with King University Tornado of Bristol, Tenneessee.

"I really enjoyed my visit to TRU, I felt like it was somewhere I could fit in and contribute to a great basketball team," said Farinloye on his decision to return to Canada.

Last season at King, the 6-3 guard appeared in 19 games and earned Academic All-Conference Carolinas distinction.

"He is a very intelligent, athletic, and versatile player who will be able to help us on both ends of the floor," said Jacobson. "Dami comes from a strong high school program in Manitoba where he was an integral part of a well-coached and very successful team and understands how to win."

Prior to travelling to Tennessee, King was ranked as the No. 1 high school prospect for the entire province of Manitoba in 2020. Playing for the powerhouse Vincent Massey Collegiate Trojans, Farinloye exploded onto the basketball scene in his grade 11 year after primarily focusing on soccer prior to that.

"I'm a very versatile player, I feel like I can do a bit of everything on the court," said Farinloye. "My greatest strengths would be my defence and playmaking. I take pride in being a defensive pest and disrupting the other team's offence. I also really like to get downhill and pass the ball to open shooters."

A provincial champion with the Trojans, Farinloye plans on studying computer science at TRU.

"Not only will he help us on the court, but Dami is a strong student and high-character individual who will be a great fit in our locker room," said Jacobson.
