BADMINTON PLAYS BRITS

The British are coming! The British are coming!. That famous quote by Paul Revere will ring true Monday night (April 7) in Kamloops. The Kamloops Badminton Association, which includes members of the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack will play an exhibition series with members of the British Militia.
"They just happened to be in the area and are dropping in to play us", says KBA Spokesperson Murray Foubister. " The Military personnel (eight men and four women) are on a BC Tour and will spend four days in Kamloops." The Brits will enjoy some skiing at Sun Peaks and some golfing before heading to Vancouver later in the week for more exhibition matches.
"Its hard to tell how good they are going to be", says Froubister who will get a good look at them as they will play in the Oggopogo Open in Kelowna this weekend (April 5-6). "Its thought that they would be comparable to a University team.
And that is where the WolfPack come in. Head Coach Brad Pape is an executive member of the KBA. He's lined up four of his best players, Ming Wong(2nd year Kamloops BC), Brennan Arduini (2nd year, Kamloops BC), along with Andy Chu (4th year, Tiawan) and Garrett Babichuk (1st year, Kelowna BC) to be involved in the matches. Chu and Babichuk were bronze medal winners at the recent National College Championships. "It'll be great experience for our players," stated Pape."Not only for competition but to be involved in the cultural aspect of the event."
