MSOC LOSES FIRST OF 2008

"We aren't discouraged by the result." That's how Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Mens Soccer Coach Sean Wallace describes the feeling of his players following their first defeat of the young BC College Athletic Association Season. The WolfPack came out on the short end of a 2-0 decision to the hometown Capilano University Blues. The loss drops TRU to 1-1-1 on the year. Cap is now unbeaten in three starts.

"Capilano will probably be #1 all year," said Wallace. "They pressured our back line. With Byra (5 th year defender and co-captain James of Sardis BC) being out, Brynden (Swint, 2nd year Defender, Kamloops BC) was moved into the middle. He played well, as did Adam Dodgson (2nd year, Kamloops BC)." Wallace also thought sophomore defender Luke Smit, playing his first game of the year had a strong game. Smit left after the first half after his sore knee started acting up.

"Cap didn't have a lot of scoring chances," Wallace reflected "but they did capitalize on the ones that they did."

Capilano got two goals from 4 th year midfielder Milad Rhamati (North Vancouver, BC). The first goal came in the 9 th minute with the other coming early in the 2nd half.

Wallace thought his crew battled hard. "We just didn't generate enough scoring chances." He felt rookie forward Peter Loncar (Kamloops, BC) added a much needed dimension to the front line.

"We are ahead of this time last year," said the WolfPack coach. "At this time, we were 0-2-2. I'm confident we can rebound tomorrow (Sun Sept 14) against VIU. We are still in the hunt for first place."

THROW INS: With Byra serving his one game suspension for two yellow cards, his return to the lineup poses a challange for the TRU Coaching Staff. Wallace and his support staff (John Antulov and Hee Young Chung) will sit down Sunday morning to decide which 18 players to dress. TRU is carrying 20 on its roster. Next home match for the WolfPack is Saturday September 20 th when Douglas College pays a visit to Hillside Stadium. kick off times are Noon (Women) and 2 PM (Men)
