Meet the WolfPack: Laura Smylie

Snucins) Number: 11 Hometown: 150 Mile House Highschool: Duchess Park Secondary Height: 5’6” Position: Sweeper Year: 4th year Area of Study: Science Parents: Melissa & Tim Laura is a team captain of the WolfPack. She has dressed for every match (37) since coming to TRU. Laura played her first year as a forward and had seven goals. An injury to teammate Sarah Gomes(whom she played high school soccer with) forced Laura to play sweeper, a position she has held since that time. She had two goals her second year and three last year (Sept 15, 2012 at Langara, Oct 7, 2012 at Kwantlen and in the playoffs: Oct 26 th vs Langara). She was a PACWEST 2nd team all-star in 2012-13. Her highlight as a member of the WolfPack was scoring from 45 yards out in the 2012 PACWEST playoffs against UBCO to force overtime in a game where TRU won the title. Her favorite community events are Wendy’s Dreamlift and Breakfast with Santa. Her fondest sports moment was playing alongside Chloe and Abbey McAuley in their final match last season. This is her final season of collegiate soccer and she will be missed by the players, coaching staff and administration. Coach McManus says: “Steady at the back as a sweeper and gets forward on set pieces to score important goals.”
