
Inexperience and inconsistency cost the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack as they fell 4-1 to the hometown University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves in exhibition Canada West men’s soccer action in Prince George on Saturday (Aug 30).

“ It was the same story as our previous matches,” said WolfPack head coach John Antulov. “We start out ok but all of a sudden we have some lapses and it costs us. We get scored on when we don’t tighten up defensively.”

The ‘Pack found themselves down 2-0 after the opening half but quickly got on the board in the 46 th minute when Nathan Hawe (1
st year, midfielder, Nakusp, BC) went in and blocked a clearing attempt. He scored on a break away.

“We did get some scoring chances after going down early but couldn’t claw our way back,” Antulov added.

The WolfPack will return home to play their alumni next Saturday (Sept 6). They open their inaugural season in the Canada West on Friday, September 12 th at Hillside Stadium when they take on the Trinity Western University Spartans. Kick off is 7 pm.
