The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack are back aback into the win column in Canada West women's basketball.
The WolfPack snapped a five game losing streak as they downed the University of Winnipeg Wesmen 65-61 on Saturday (Jan 12).
The Pack rallied from a 10 point deficit en route to the victory. They outscored the Wesmen 38-27 in the second half.
TRU improves its record to 3-10 while Winnipeg falls to 6-9..
SYNOPSIS
The WolfPack found themselves down by ten after the first quarter but rallied to outscore the Wesen 15-12 in the second half and trail 34-27.
Michelle Bos, as is the case most nights, led Thompson Rivers in scoring in the first half with 10 points.
Leilani Carney chipped in with six in the first two periods.
Winnipeg's top player offensively was Faith Hezeklah with eight points.
The third quarter was all TRU as they outgunned the Wesmen 19-8 as they held on for the four point victory.
Bos and
Emily Vilac (5
th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) paced TRU with 18 points apiece. Bos added 12 rebounds.
Hezeklah had 12 points and 16 boards to lead the Wesmen who had 17 second chance points compared to TRU's 12. The Winnipeg bench outscored TRU's 25-12 in the contest.
