Seasons over for WolfPack men's soccer

No third straight Canada West final four appearance for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men's soccer team.
The WolfPack were eliminated in the Canada West quarter finals on Saturday (Oct 26) in Calgary, Alberta. They were beaten by the Prairie Division number one seeded Mount Royal University Cougars 2-1.

The Cougars were unbeaten on home turf in 2019.

Mount Royal got on the board in the 27 th minute when high winds saw a shot by Canada West second team all-star Dane Domic defect off Thompson Rivers keeper Jackson Gardner (2nd year, Chilliwack, BC) and into the net.

Thompson Rivers tied the match in the 44th minute . Cole Roselund (1st year, midfield, Port Coquitlam,BC) sent the ball down the right side for Justin Donaldson (5th year, midfield, Kamloops, BC).
Donaldson broke in and chipped it into the box where Marco Favaro (3rd year, midfield, Vancouver, BC) was able to push it ahead to Daniel Sagno (3rd year, forward, Winnipeg, MB).  Sagno moved to the net and was taken down but not before scooting the ball to the left and into the Cougars net behind Kyran Valley.

Mount Royal won it in the 57 th minute on a goal from Justin-Anderson-Louch converted a cross from Miguel De Rosa.

Gardner made four saves and had six shots on goal. Valley had three shots on goal and made one save.  Mount Royal had 15 shots in the match compared to only four for Thompson Rivers.  The Cougars picked up 13 fouls to TRU's 10.

WolfPack head coach John Antulov said afterwards, " Tough loss and disappointing way to end the season. But very proud of the group being able to make the playoffs three years in a row. That is great for our program. We came up a little short today and were not at our best.  Good learning experience for us going forward. Really optimistic about the future and the group of players coming back and the new players coming into the program.   We will just continue to keep the program at the level where it is at and take it a little further."

The Pack had eight regulars out of the lineup at one point of the year and lost their leading scorer in James Fraser (4th year, forward, Penticton, BC) after eight matches. He had eight goals and was named a Canada West second team all-star. They lose only one player moving forward. Donaldson played his last University match on Saturday.
