For the first time since they joined Canada West, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women's soccer team is unbeaten in three starts.  The WolfPack will put the capper on a four match  homestand this weekend.
 Thompson Rivers will entertain to of the top teams in the Pacific division as they host the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds and the University of Victoria Vikes on Friday and Saturday (Oct 4-5).Both matches have 5 pm kick offs on the Warner Rentals field at Hillside Stadium.

DETAILS:

The WolfPack are coming off a pair of back to back ties against the University of Calgary Dinos and the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves at home last weekend. Friday's meeting will be the first for WolfPack head coach Mark Pennington against his former team. Pennington was an assistant coach with the T-Birds for three  years.
These matches are the start of a two match home and home series between the teams.  They will end the Canada West regular season playing each other in Vancouver and Victoria during the weekend of October 18-19^th.

According to the most recent Canada West stats, the WolfPack are the top drawing women's soccer team at home.  Through six matches, the average attendance at a TRU women's soccer match is 462.  They have drawn a league leading 1,850 fans this year.  The next closest is UNBC who have drawn an average of 453 fans.
 
RECORDS OF NOTE:

UBC: sits in third spot in the  Pacific Division with a 4-1-3 record (15 points
UVIC: is tied for fourth spot in the Pacific Division with UNBC.  The Vikes are 3-2-3 and have 12 points. 
TRU:  enters the weekend with a record of 1-4-3, sitting in seventh place in the Pacific
 
WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME BETWEEN THE TWO SIDES:

The last time the WolfPack played against these two teams was last season.  Playing in Vancouver, UBC beat Thompson Rivers 3-0.  The Vikes beat TRU by the same score in Victoria (Sept 21-22, 2018).
The WolfPack have never beaten either team over the last five years, in fact TRU hasn't scored against them during that time either.  The last time UBC and UVIC came to Kamloops was  September 23^rd and 24^th, 2j017.  UBC beat TRU 6-0 while UVIC blanked them 4-0


PLAYERS TO WATCH:

TRU:   Camryn Curts (3^rd year midfield, Courtenay, BC):  tied for the team lead in points with a goal and one assist. She has 22 shots with 13 of them on the goal
Chantal Gammie (2^nd year, forward, Smithers, BC): tied with Curts for the team lead in overall points. Of her 11 shots taken, seven have been on goal
Danielle Robertson (3^rd year, keeper, Courtenay, BC):  leads the Canada West in saves with 62.

UBC:
Emily Moore (4^th year, keeper, Victoria, BC): is third in the Canada West in saves percent (.905), is fourth in goals against average (0.53) and is tied for fourth with four goals against.  She has a record of four wins, three ties and a loss. She has four shutouts herself and shared in another.
Alyssa Hunt (4^th year, forward, Surrey, BC) :  is tied for the team lead with three goals and four points. She has 11 shots this year, six of them on goal.
Danielle Steer (3^rd year forward, Surrey, BC): has started all eight previous matches for UBC and is tied with Hunt for the team lead with three goals and four points. She has 19 shots taken this year with 13 finding the goal. She led the Canada West in goals last year with 10.

 UVIC:: 
Puck Louwes (5^th year, guard Ultrecht, NED):  has started all eight matches for UVIC and has a goals against average of 113 with three wins, two losses and three ties. She also has three shutouts.  She was third in Canada West last year with 63 saves.
Nikki Virk (1^st year, midfield, Surrey, BC):  Is the Vikes leading scorer with 3 goals and one assist.  She has 11 shots taken, six of them have been on goal.
Kiara Kilbey (5^th year, forward,Victoria, BC) : is third in scoring on the Vikes with a goal and two assists. She enters the weekend with 22 shots. 15 have been on goal

Both matches can be seen on a pay-per-view basis on Canada West TV presented by Co-OP with James Matthews, Larry Read and Dylana Milobar.   Both matches start at Noon. Next week, the WolfPack have their traditional home and home series with the UBCO Heat. They play Thursday, October 10^th in Kelowna and two days later in Kamloops.   The Pack end the regular season on the road during the weekend of October 18^th and 19 th against the Thunderbirds and Vikes.
