The exhibition season has begun for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men's volleyball team.

Pat Hennelly and his crew opened up the FOG tournament in Edmonton on Thursday night (Sept 19).  Playing at the Saville Community Center, the WolfPack fell 3-1 to the Mount Royal University Cougars of Calgary, Alberta.

The scores were: 21-25,25-19,25-21,25-21.

" Overall good match for the first time out," said Hennelly. " Ryan Hampe (2nd year, outside hitter, Prince George, BC) and Sam Elgert (2nd year, setter, Athabasca, AB) stood out. It was great to see some second year guys on the floor."

Hennelly added, "Mount Royal was more stable and played a very solid, clean game of volleyball. It was an excellent lesson for our guys.  Good start though."
Rookie Nimo Benne (Outside hitter, Castricum, Netherlands) had 10 kills to lead the WolfPack offensively.  Sam Taylor Parks (5th year, middle, Kelowna, BC) had nine kills and two blocks.  Charlie Bringloe (5th year, outside hitter, Waterloo, ON)_ had two kills and six service aces.

The WolfPack continue the tournament on Friday (Sept 20) with matches against the NAIT Ooks (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference)  and the University of Alberta Golden Bears.  It will be the first match between those two teams since the WolfPack upset the Bears in last year's Canada West playoffs.
