KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack has recruited central defender Dane Mikkel Rosenlund to the Men's Soccer team.

Rosenlund, 20, kicked his first soccer ball at four years of age in his small home town of Nivaa, Denmark. He played for some local teams until he was recruited by FC Elsinore Academy when he was 15. After two years there, he moved to his current club, Fredensborg BI, which is currently in Danish soccer's fifth tier.

"We are very pleased to have Mikkel join our TRU Men's Soccer program. He is another big building block to keep our backline and team strong over the coming years," said WolfPack Men's Soccer Head Coach John Antulov.

"He is a big, solid central defender who is technically sound. He also has good pace for a big player and has the technically ability to also play as a right or left back. He has very good versatility in his game, which gives us the ability to do different things tactically — which will make us hard to play against. We look forward to working with Mikkel and continuing to build our program over the coming years."

Rosenlund said he usually plays centre back or right back, and his strengths are in tactical, one-on-one defence, positioning on the pitch and headers.

"During my time at TRU, I hope to win as much as possible with the team and develop as a team and an individual player," he said. "I choose TRU because of the soccer program's success and development in the last couple of years. Furthermore, the coach and players I spoke to convinced me that TRU would be a good place to continue my development as a player with great facilities. And last, the area and nature close to campus also interested me a lot."
