KAMLOOPS – For the final time in 2021, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack (0-6-2) women's soccer team will take to the pitch inside Hillside Stadium when they welcome the Fraser Valley Cascades (0-4-2) for a pair of games this weekend.
Situated side-by-side in the West Division standings, both teams are in search of their first win of the season. Battling in what is an extremely tight division, a victory for either team this weekend would go a long way in their fight for fourth place.
Taking place Friday night at 5 p.m. and Saturday night at 7p.m., the contests will serve as the TRU's final Canada West regular season home games of the season. On Friday night, graduating players
Georgia Aldus,
Camryn Curts and
Danielle Robertson as well as former member of the 'Pack Cassie Morris will be honoured.
Fans 12-and-over attending the games will be required to show proof of full vaccination through their online BC Vaccine Card. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early or by tickets online to beat the lines and get into the stadium in a timely manner.
The WolfPack hung tough against the top ranked team in the country, the Trinity Western Spartans, last weekend. Falling by scores of 4-1 and 3-1, the 'Pack's two goals on the weekend were as many as the Spartans had conceded through their opening six games.
Fraser Valley will also be taking some positives away from a pair of close losses last weekend. Hosting the UBC Thunderbirds, the Cascades fell by scores of 2-0 and 2-1, keeping things close with one of the top teams in the nation.
These two teams last met in 2019 when the Cascades doubled up the 'Pack by a score of 4-2 in Abbotsford.
3 Things
1: The four graduating players being honoured have all been pillars of the WolfPack program and respectively hold spots in the team's history books.
2: Fans 12-and-over attending the games will be required to show proof of full vaccination through their online BC Vaccine Card.
3: TRU Athletics has
launched a new online ticketing portal. Beat the lines and buy online!

Scouting the Cascades
It's set to be a pair of defensive duels this weekend. The Cascades have scored just once through six games this season, with that goal coming from the foot of Halle McCambley. Joven Sandhu and Andrea Perkovic have split time in net, Sandhu holds a record of 0-3-1 while Perkovic is 0-1-1.
