KAMLOOPS – It's a return to action this weekend for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's volleyball team that is coming off their best season in program history in 2019-20.
Taking on the perennial powerhouse Trinity Western Spartans in Langley, the WolfPack will play their games at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. TRU will need to get off to a hot start against a Spartan squad that was pegged to finish second in the Canada West Coaches Poll.
The 'Pack will feature a roster with plenty of new faces from the team that Finished the regular season with a record of 16-8 and went all the way to the Canada West semifinals in 2019-20. A total of 11 of the 17 players on TRU are in their first year of eligibility.
Playing in five preseason games in the build-up to the season the WolfPack picked up a pair of wins over the MacEwan Griffins by identical scores of 3-0, but fell to the Alberta Pandas twice (3-0, 3-1) as well as the Calgary Dinos (3-1).
Facing a schedule of only B.C. schools this season, the WolfPack will face the Spartans, UBCO Okanagan Heat, UBC Thunderbirds, Fraser Valley Cascades and Trinity Western Spartans four times each in 2021-22.
