Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS – Finding themselves in the middle of an incredibly tight Canada West playoff race to start the year, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's volleyball team is back at home this weekend.

Hosting the Saskatchewan Huskies at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, TRU will be looking to keep momentum on their side after they earned a split with the No. 9 ranked UBC Okanagan Heat last weekend.

After pushing the Heat to five sets on Friday night, the WolfPack were able to complete the upset on Saturday in a 3-1 victory over their Interior rivals. TRU is now 4-4 on the season and locked in a five-way tie for seventh in the conference. They are just one game behind third place with the top eight teams making the postseason.

One of those teams that the 'Pack find themselves tied with is the Saskatchewan Huskies (4-4). The Huskies enter the weekend after sweeping the Regina Cougars on home court in their last action. Saskatchewan is 4-0 at home and 0-4 on the road to start the year.

By The Numbers

38: It's been a balanced attack to lead TRU so far this year. Ema Palkovicova and Brooklyn Olfert lead the team with 96 and 90 kills respectively.

.336: Mandi Fraser of the Huskies is sixth in the conference in hitting percentage.
