KAMLOOPS – Five finishes from five different players was the story as the visiting University of Calgary Dinos racked up the goals in a 5-0 victory over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's soccer team Saturday afternoon.
 
Isabella DiPalma, Sofia DiGiacomo, Grace Moore, Rachel Barlow and Paige Cates all scored for a Dinos team that gave interim co-head coaches Diogo Raposo and Alex Valerio the first win of their head coaching careers.

Kamloops local Emily Clark was a threat up front all game long for TRU, ending the night with a pair of shots on goal while also delivering numerous dangerous crosses.
 
Despite the lopsided score line the action was close on the field for much of the game, with Calgary adding a pair of goals late in the contest.
 
"It's a tricky one because although the score says one thing, I thought the actual game said something else," said WolfPack head coach Mark Pennington. "With the score at 1-0 we missed a penalty shot which I think would have really changed the game and changed the whole mentality of our team."
 
A slow start to the contest saw the WolfPack getting the better of the run of play, with Clark in particular looking dangerous, before Calgary snatched the lead in the 35th minute. After a short corner kick, Rachel Barlow – who finished with one goal and two assists in the game – whipped in a beautiful left footed cross that DiPalma rocketed into the back of the net with a header.
 
TRU continued to press after allowing the opening goal and nearly grabbed an equalizer just minutes into the second half.
 
Claire Ye played a great ball into the path of Bridget Baird and the first-year forward did well to control the pass before being taken down by a Dino defender inside the 18-yard box. On the ensuing penalty shot Caylah Lemon struck a beautiful effort that just rang off the crossbar and out.
 
From then on out it was all Dinos.
 
Between the 63rd and 65th minute of play Calgary tallied twice. DiGiacomo finished off a goalmouth scramble from a corner kick before Moore buried a feed from Paige Cates just minutes later to put the contest out of reach.
 
"We failed to deal with a couple routine ones from set pieces, we'll take a look at some of the video and we'll regroup but honestly I'm proud of how we played," said Pennington. "We are missing four key players today and some young players got the opportunity to step up and I thought they showed well for the most part. Once we get our more experienced bodies back, I think it will really help us."

Barlow and Cates tallied in the 82nd and 90th minute respectively as the Dinos put the finishing touches on what was an outstanding start to the season for them.
 
TRU saw a number of players get the first Canada West action of their WolfPack careers on the day, with: Claire Ye, Bridget Baird, Katie Chun, Madeline Trozzo, Anika Black, Bella Geremia and Aimee Woods all making their debuts.
 
"It's great for them, we are a very young team and some of these girls have never seen U SPORTS action so for them to get it today was a good opportunity for them," said Pennington. "Lots of learning curves for them so hopefully we can learn from it and move forward."
 
Calgary will remain in the Interior for their next action as they are set to take on the UBC Okanagan Heat in Kelowna tomorrow afternoon.
 
TRU meanwhile will look to get a positive result when they welcome the UNBC Timberwolves to Hillside Stadium for a noon kickoff tomorrow.
