Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's soccer team will have another opportunity to start the season off on the right foot this weekend when they welcome the Regina Cougars and Saskatchewan Huskies to Hillside Stadium.

Facing the Cougars on Friday and the Huskies on Saturday, both games will get underway at 5:30 p.m.

While the teams haven't met in the regular season in five years, the WolfPack faced both squads for exhibition games in August. TRU toppled the Cougars by a score of 1-0 and tied with the Huskies 1-1.

The WolfPack will be hoping to get their season firing on all cylinders this weekend after they fell in both of their games last weekend. The 'Pack were defeated 5-0 by the Calgary Dinos and 1-0 to the UNBC Timberwolves.

Regina will also be looking to pick up the first win of their 2022 campaign. The Cougars fell 3-1 to the Manitoba Bisons to start their season, had a game suspended at the half with the Winnipeg Wesmen that will resume on Sunday, Sept. 25 before drawing with the Huskies last week in Saskatoon.

The Huskies enter the weekend with a record of 1-1-1. They started the year with a 3-1 victory over the Wesmen, fell 1-0 to Manitoba and tied the Cougars 3-3 last week.

By The Numbers

12:  The WolfPack fired 12 shots towards the UNBC net on Sunday and were incredibly unlucky to not tie up the game.

13: Camryn Curts is the all-time program leader in Canada West points with 13.

56: Goalkeeper Marissa Young has 56 saves in her Canada West career and is just two away from moving into fourth in program career history.
