KAMLOOPS – The high-flying Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's volleyball team is just days away from getting their 2023-24 Canada West campaign underway with a pair of games in Edmonton on tap.
 
Facing the Alberta Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, the contests will be the first of the season for a young WolfPack squad that has is aiming for a second trip to the Canada West playoffs in the last three seasons.
 
TRU was picked to finish 10th in the CW Coaches Pre-season Poll but boast an experience lineup headlined by a trio of experienced players in Sam Elgert, Corbin Ockeman and Dylan VanSpankeren.
 
It will be a tough test to start the season for TRU as they take on the reigning CW Champion Alberta Golden Bears who were selected first in the coaches poll.

Back for his fifth and final season with the 'Pack, Sam Elgert is set to once again lead TRU. The setter from Athabasca, AB racked up 700 assists last season despite missing four games due to injury. The quarterback of a potent TRU offensive attack, Elgert is one of the rare setters that can also pose a hitting threat himself as evidenced by his bronze medal finish at the Canadian University Beach Volleyball Championships alongside teammate Sam Flowerday.
