QUICK FIRE
  • The Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's volleyball team took an early lead, but they couldn't hold off theTrinity Western Spartans in a 3-1 (17-25, 25-10, 25-12, 25-21) loss inside the TCC.
DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Ema Palkovicova led the way for the 'Pack with 10 kills, three aces, four blocks and eight digs. Keira Gent added seven kills while Libby Meldrum recorded 31 assists.

  • The battle at the net went the way of TWU as the visitors recorded 20 assisted blocks in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Much like the night prior, TRU came out of the gates ready to play. The 'Pack put down five service aces in the first set, including two from Addison Witkowski, en route to taking the first set 25-17. The turning point in the set came during an 8-3 TRU run that featured a pair of kills from Gent.
  • Trinity Western, who entered the weekend ranked fourth in Canada, was able to flip the script in the second and third sets however to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
  • The 'Pack gave it their all to try to send the game to a fifth set but were unable to stave off the Spartans. An 8-2 TWU run in the middle of the set turned what was a 15-13 TRU lead into a 21-17 Spartans edge that they would never surrender en route to the victory.
NOTABLE
  • TRU moves to 6-12 on the season while the Spartans improve to 16-2.
  • The game was the sixth this season that TRU has played against a team ranked in the top five in the nation.

UP NEXT
  • The 'Pack will hit the road next weekend when they take on the Fraser Valley Cascades in Abbotsford.
