Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | TRU WolfPack

WolfPack can’t keep pace with No. 8 Cascades

QUICK FIRE
  • The No. 8 ranked team in the nation proved to be too much for the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team to handle in an 83-36 loss to the UFV Cascades inside the TCC.

DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Rookies Olivia Randall and Jocelyn Orr provided the offensive touch for TRU with eight and seven points respectively.
  • It was a scoring by committee approach for the Cascades who got double-digit outputs by five different players spearheaded by Deanna Tuchscherer with 18 points.
  • Fraser Valley dominated the battle on the boards with 51 rebounds to the 'Pack's 34.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • TRU hung tough with the Cascades through the opening five minutes of the game, with Tia Rowell knocking down a three-pointer and the WolfPack defence stepping up to make the score just 9-5 in favour of UFV.
  • After the Cascades finished the first quarter on a 12-3 run, the WolfPack hung tough in the second and third frames. Randall scored five points and the WolfPack knocked down a quartet of three-pointers while limiting the Cascades offence to keep it close through three quarters.
  • The Cascades were able to put an exclamation point on their victory in the fourth quarter however and pulled away for the dominant win.

NOTABLE
  • Rookie Jocelyn Orr set new career highs in points (7) and minutes played (30).
  • 22 of the WolfPack's 36 points were scored by rookies.

UP NEXT
  • The WolfPack will hit the road next weekend when they travel to Calgary to take on the Calgary Dinos.
