WolfPack battle Brandon to five sets

QUICK FIRE
  • A team all too accustomed to marathon battles pushed it to five sets once again, but this time the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's volleyball team came out on the wrong end of a 3-2 (22-25, 27-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-11) score-line against the Brandon Bobcats on the road.
DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Sam Flowerday continued his torrid pace this season with 25 more kills while Matthew Hamilton tied his career-high with 18 of his own. Middle Corbin Ockerman had nine kills on just 13 attacks while Sam Elgert's 52 assists saw him break the 50 mark for the third time this season.
  • Philipp Lauter had a team-high 13 kills for Brandon while also adding four aces and six block assists.
     
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • While TRU had 64 kills to Brandon's 48, the hosts committed ten fewer service errors than the 'Pack.
  • A large difference on the night came at the net where Brandon racked up two solo and 30 block assists.

NOTABLE
  • Flowerday continues to lead the conference with 381 kills this season.
  • The match was the 11th time this season that TRU has gone to five sets, that equals the 11 they played in 2022-23 and 2021-22 combined.
  • The 'Pack fall to 10-12 with the result and are two games behind the Manitoba Bisons for the eighth and final playoff spot with two games left to play.

  • Another tough battle tonight. We had solid momentum in the second and let it slip a bit.
  • It was another big night from Flowerday and Hamilton had a great night offensively.
  • There's no quit in these guys and I'm proud of the effort.
