Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – It will be an emotional weekend for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's volleyball team that will finish its 2023-24 regular season schedule with a pair of games inside the TCC.
On Friday night before their game the 'Pack will celebrate their graduating class of
Riley Brinnen,
Sam Elgert,
Corbin Ockerman and
Dylan VanSpankeren. For Brinnen, it will be a return to the TCC as he continues to recover from injuries sustained during a tragic car crash on Nov. 29 that took the life of
Owyn McInnis and resulted in life-altering injuries for
Owen Waterhouse.
On the court, the games are crucial ones to end the season. The WolfPack (10-12) will host the Mount Royal Cougars (16-6) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday and 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
A sweep from TRU combined with the Manitoba Bisons losing both of their games will vault the 'Pack into a tie with the Bisons for the eighth and final playoff spot in the conference.
The 'Pack fell in a pair of close games to the Brandon Bobcats out on the road last weekend while Mount Royal enters the contests on a six-game winning streak.
MRU won both games these teams played last year in Calgary.
