Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | TRU WolfPack

2023-24 campaign comes to an end for young WolfPack squad

QUICK FIRE
  • KAMLOOPS – A young Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team wrapped up their 2023-24 season with a scrappy effort on the road before bowing out 71-40 to the UVic Vikes in Victoria.
DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • In the final game of her university career Kelsey Cruz led the way for TRU with 14 points in 28 minutes of action. Jocelyn Orr knocked down a pair of three-pointers to add eight points of her own while Olivia Randall and Priyanca Sundher both chipped in with six points apiece.
  • Tana Pankratz had a big night for UVic with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Abigail Becker joined her with a double-double of her own after finishing with 13 points and 11 boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a slow start to the game saw TRU trailing 25-7 through ten minutes of action, the 'Pack rebounded to play their best basketball of the night in the second quarter.
  • Cruz and Sundher both had three points in the frame and a jumper courtesy of Olivia Randall with 30 seconds left gave TRU a 12-11 edge in the quarter.
  • The comeback wasn't meant to be however as Pankratz and the Vikes were able to use a big advantage on the boards (54-35) to take the victory.

NOTABLE
  • TRU finishes the regular season with a record of 2-18.
  • With nine rebounds on the night, Kate De La Mare finishes third in the program record books for single season rookie rebounds with 148.
  • Olivia Randall's 20 three-pointers on the season is enough to slot her in eighth in the program's rookie record books.
  • 29 blocks gives De La Mare the most dominant rookie season ever in program history and the third-most for any player to don TRU colours.
