KAMLOOPS – Addition number 13 to the 2024-25 Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men's soccer roster is one sure to excite fans inside Hillside Stadium this season in the form of forward
Lachlan Will.
"I see him bringing goals to the table," said WolfPack head coach
John Antulov. "Lachlan is a fiery player that just doesn't give up, his work rate is something that I really liked when I was watching him play in League1 BC. I like what he brings to the table with his energy and skillset, he's a high-quality player who has a really good pedigree."
A 5-11 forward from Vancouver, Will has plenty of experience playing high-level soccer.
The product of West Vancouver Secondary joined the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency program before travelling to Europe at the age of 15. Starting in France with Metz where he played for a year-and-a-half in their youth academy, Will also spent time with AD Alcorcon in Madrid. After returning to Canada to play with the Victoria Highlanders of League1 BC, Will earned another chance at playing in Europe when he signed with semi-pro club Wacker Nordhausen in Germany.
Most recently Will played for Burnaby FC in League1 BC where his offensive prowess caught Antulov's eye.
"All of that experience eases this transition for him," said Antulov. "He's used to being away from home, he's been through the MLS academy structure and through the ups and downs of trying to make it in football so he brings a maturity for his age that is well beyond what you would expect. I like what he brings to the table in his attitude and mindset."
A striker that can also play as a winger, Will is poised to bring an attacking edge to a TRU team that saw long time contributors
Patrick Izett,
Ryan Lewis and
Dylan Hooper all graduate from the program after last season.
"After going up to Kamloops and seeing the environment and experiencing the culture of the team and the university, I am really excited to be part of the team this year," said Will.
Will plans on studying business at TRU.
The WolfPack will get their 2024 season underway on August 23-24 against the UVic Vikes and the UBC Thunderbirds on the road before returning to Kamloops for their home opener on Friday, August 30 inside Hillside Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
