Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | TRU WolfPack

T-Birds top WolfPack to start second half

QUICK FIRE
  • The No. 5 nationally ranked UBC Thunderbirds proved to be too much for a young Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team to handle, as they pulled out a 79-35 victory in Vancouver.

DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Veterans Danijela Kovacevic and Priyanca Sundher both paced the 'Pack with six points while Sydney Vollrath chipped in with five. Rookie Morgan Eichenberger pulled down eight rebounds for TRU.
  • Mona Berlitz and Olivia Weekend both put together a double-double for UBC. Berlitz had 22 points and ten rebounds while Weekend put together 13 points and ten rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UBC shot the lights out in the first half, pouring in 49 points in the opening 20 minutes as they took control of the game straight away. Kate De La Mare, Kovacevic and Sundher all had four points in the half for the 'Pack as they trailed 49-22 at the break.
  • The WolfPack played their best basketball of the night early in the second half as they held UBC to just 11 points in the third quarter while scoring nine themselves. That would be the high point of the night for TRU however, as the Thunderbirds went on to secure the victory.

NOTABLE
  • With eight rebounds in the contest, Kamloops product Morgan Eichenberger keeps her pace of 8+ rebounds-per-game. Through the opening ten games of the season Eichenberger led all rookies in U SPORTS with 8.7 rebounds-per-game.

UP NEXT
  • The 'Pack will head to Abbotsford tomorrow, Saturday Jan. 11, as they face the UFV Cascades in a 3:00 p.m. tip-off. That game can be watched live on canadawest.tv.
