QUICK FIRE

After falling in the first set the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's volleyball team caught fire Friday night in a 3-1 (15-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-22) victory over the Manitoba Bisons.

DIFFERENCE MAKERS

Alex Howard finished the night with a team-high 14 kills on just 25 attacks. Rylan Ibbetson, Jakob Leinemann, Lincoln Wagner and Parker Bailey all added six kills for the 'Pack. Wagner led the team with seven blocks. Walker Sodaro continued his march up the WolfPack record books with 35 assists in the game.
Owen Weekes led the Bisons with 15 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED

It was all Bisons early as the visitors hit .476 per cent in the first en route to capturing the set 25-15.
The WolfPack rebounded in a big way in the second. A 4-0 WolfPack run that saw Howard and Leinemann combine for a block and both put down a kill allowed TRU to take the lead at 14-9. From there the 'Pack were able to keep the Bisons at bay with an ace from Ibbetson ending the set in a 25-17 WolfPack victory. Bailey led the way for TRU with four kills in the frame.
TRU kept that momentum going in the third. Trailing 10-9, the 'Pack went on an 8-1 run that was capped off with a Wagner ace. The Bisons did their best to get back into the set late but a kill from Howard ended the set with the WolfPack winning 25-21.
The WolfPack but the game to bed in the fourth. TRU hit .414 per cent as a team and Howard had six of the team's 16 kills as the WolfPack jumped out to an early lead and never looked back en route to the 25-22 win.

NOTABLE

The win moves the 'Pack to 3-8 on the season where they are currently in a playoff position.
With 35 assists on the night Walker Sodaro passed the 1000 assist mark in his WolfPack career, becoming just the sixth player in program history to do so.

Things looked pretty dark in the first set, we didn't have a lot of life but credit to the guys for digging in. I have to give Parker Bailey a lot of credit, he had a really good start to the second set, brought some energy to the team and other guys followed. Lincoln Wagner had his best night from the service line, really set the tone for us with some long runs. Those two guys started it and the rest of the guys came along.
Alex Howard was once again one of our best players, those are all-star numbers he's putting up.
ON SODARO REACHING 1000 ASSISTS "We made a joke earlier that Walker is going to need a new pair of shoes because he is getting to balls that no one else is able to. He's all over the court controlling the tempo – we've been waiting for other guys to support and that's where Parker Bailey really helped out balancing the offence and giving Walker the chance to do his stuff. Walker is a great volleyball player and that's a great milestone for him to reach."
