Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | TRU WolfPack

Nail-biter goes the other way in close loss for ‘Pack

QUICK FIRE
  • In a game that came right down to the wire it was the host UFV Cascades that came out on top in a 72-68 result over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team Saturday night.

DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Jayden Stephens led the way for TRU with 22 points. Dami Farinloye added 10 points along with four assists and four steals.
  • Bennett O'Connor powered the Cascades offence with 21 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Fraser Valley jumped out to an early lead, outscoring TRU 25-14 in the first quarter. Stephens kept the 'Pack within striking distance with seven points in the frame.
  • Seven players scored for the WolfPack in the second quarter as the WolfPack cut into the Cascades' lead. A Steve Stinson layup in the final minute of the first half sent the teams into the halftime break with UFV leading 39-32.
  • The 'Pack continued to chip away in the third, cutting the deficit to just three multiple times but the hosts continued to lead by a score of 58-53 after three quarters of play.
  • TRU was able to draw even in the final frame. An 11-3 WolfPack run in the middle of the fourth capped off by a Jayden Green jumper knotted the game up at 64-64 with three minutes left to play. Farinloye and Stephens scored down the stretch and the 'Pack had shots to tie the game again late but were unable to match Fraser Valley's eight points in the final three minutes en route to the four-point defeat.

NOTABLE
  • The result moves TRU to a record of 7-4 on the season where they are tied with UFV for third in the Pacific Division.

UP NEXT
