Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – Ranked in the top ten in the nation all year long, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's volleyball will play their final games of the regular season this weekend in the TCC.
Taking on the Brandon Bobcats at 7:15 p.m. on Friday and 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, the games will see the 'Pack (11-7) take on the Bobcats (2-16) trying to solidify their postseason place.
Currently sixth in the Canada West standings, the 'Pack will be looking to ensure they get a bye through the first round of the playoffs. Teams that finish in spots ten through seven will play in a play-in round next weekend while one through six will have the week off to await their opponents. TRU is just one game ahead of the 10-8 Saskatchewan Huskies for sixth place.
The WolfPack split a pair of games at home last weekend. On Friday they dominated the MRU Cougars by a score of 3-0 before narrowly falling in a five-set battle on Saturday.
The Bobcats enter the weekend on the tail of four-straight losses. The program did deliver one of the biggest upsets in the country earlier in the year when they took down the U SPORTS No. 2 ranked UFV Cascades.
These teams met twice last season with TRU earning back-to-back wins over the Bobcats in Brandon. In total TRU has won the last eight regular season games that the two have played.
3 Things
1: Papa Murphy's will be serving up pizza inside the TCC all season long.
2: On Friday night TRU is hosting Date Night with the 'Pack. Fans will have the chance to win a staycation prize package featuring $200 in Accent Inns vouchers and $100 in Mittz Kitchen gift cards.
3: With pair of wins this weekend TRU could tie the second-best regular season win total in program history.
By The Numbers
3.44: WolfPack libero
Olivia Andulajevic is third in the conference with 3.44 digs-per-set.
943: Already second in the program record books with 943 career kills, the WolfPack's
Brooklyn Olfert is nearing the 1000 mark. She would become just the 21st player in Canada West history to break that barrier.
386: TRU's mark of 1074 points as a team is fourth-most in the conference. They've collected 386 more than Brandon who has the fewest in Canada West with 688.
