Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS – For the first time in nearly two months the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's volleyball team will be back inside the friendly confines of the TCC this weekend when they play host to the UFV Cascades.

Taking on Fraser Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, the games will be the WolfPack's first on home court since Nov. 29-30 and just their second weekend of Canada West action since the winter break.

The WolfPack (11-3) have been ranked No. 4 in the nation for the last two weeks in the U SPORTS Top 10 Poll. Coming off a bye week, the WolfPack were last in action Jan. 9-10 when they earned a split on the road with the perennial power Trinity Western University Spartans. Outside hitter Rida Erlalelitepe led the way for the 'Pack with 29 kills in seven sets of action as the WolfPack earned a 3-0 victory on night one before falling to TWU 3-1 on Saturday.

UFV (7-5) were also on a bye last weekend. The Cascades enter the weekend in seventh place in the conference and picked up a pair of 3-1 wins over the Brandon Bobcats at home back on Jan. 9-10.

The WolfPack will be looking to put an end to UFV's six-game winning streak in their last six head-to-head matches.

3 Things

1: Fryer's Express will be serving up hot food inside the TCC all year long.

2: Before the match Friday night the WolfPack will celebrate Iuliia Pakhomenko's induction to the Canada West Hall of Fame. Starring for the WolfPack from 2014-17, Pakhomenko becomes the third member of the 'Pack to enter the CW Hall of Fame, following Ken Olynyk and Gord Perrin. Friday night will also see the WolfPack Athletic Council raffling off a basket full of goodies with all proceeds supporting youth mental health through the Nicholas Zhou Foundation.

3:  TRU is currently second in the Canada West conference and just one game back of the Alberta Pandas for first.

By The Numbers

16.9: The WolfPack are second in the conference with a mark of 16.9 points-per-set as a team.

10.34: TRU setter Libby Meldrum leads the entire nation with 10.34 assists-per-set this season.

4: TRU's current national ranking of fourth is tied for the highest in program history.

90+: It's been an incredibly balanced attack for the WolfPack this season. Rida Erlalelitepe (155), Hail Ward (139), Keira Gent (134) and Maria Dancheva (91) have all recorded over 90 kills so far this season for TRU.
