Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – After a long 54 days without Canada West volleyball action inside the TCC, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's volleyball team will finally return to regular season play at home this weekend when they host the UFV Cascades.
Facing Fraser Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday and 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, the games are important ones in the Canada West postseason picture.
The WolfPack (4-10) are coming off a bye last week. In their last action the WolfPack came incredibly close to upsetting the TWU Spartans in a 3-2 defeat in Langley. In their games at home the WolfPack earned a massive weekend sweep (3-1, 3-2) over the Manitoba Bisons back on Nov. 29-30.
Fraser Valley (0-12) enter the weekend looking for their first win of the season. The Cascades were also on a bye last week and were defeated 3-0, 3-0 by the Brandon Bobcats on Jan. 9-10 in their lone action so far this semester.
The Cascades won both games that these teams played last year but it's the WolfPack that hold 7-3 edge over UFV all-time in Canada West play.
3 Things
1: Fryer's Express will be serving up hot food inside the TCC all year long.
2: Friday night will see the WolfPack Athletic Council raffling off a basket full of goodies with all proceeds supporting youth mental health through the Nicholas Zhou Foundation.
3: TRU is just one game behind the Brandon Bobcats for the final playoff spot in the conference.
By The Numbers
608: The WolfPack's mark of 608 kills as a team this season is seventh in the conference and almost 200 clear of UFV's 409.
672: Fifth-year outside
Rylan Ibbetson's 672 career kills put him seventh in WolfPack program history and he is just 28 away from becoming the sixth player in the history of the program to reach 700 career kills.
8.59: WolfPack setter
Walker Sodaro is sixth in the conference with 8.59 assists-per-set.
