Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | TRU WolfPack

WolfPack fall in final regular season game of 2026, shift sights to playoffs

QUICK FIRE
  • With their postseason seeding already secured the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's soccer team played out their final game of the regular season inside a rainy Hillside Stadium Saturday night, falling by a score of 2-1 to the visiting TWU Spartans.

DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Rookie, and Kamloops local, Aiden Muzio scored the lone goal of the game for the WolfPack.
  • Elijah Bean and Kieran Eve tallied for Trinity Western.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Already locked into fourth place in the Pacific Division, the game was a chance for the WolfPack to rotate the line up and bring new players onto the field while resting some regular faces for the action next weekend.
  • A first half that saw both teams playing tight defensively ended scoreless. Jesus Amuri and Ryan Prasad both had shots on net that forced TWU goalkeeper Yannick Lindhorst into action but the Spartan's keeper was up to the task.
  • The story was much the same in the second half until the Spartans' struck twice in quick succession.
  • Eve scored off a penalty kick in the 65th minute with Bean tallying not long after in the 69th to give the visitors a two-goal edge.
  • The WolfPack did their best to battle back after that and were rewarded for their efforts with just one minute left to play.
  • Muzio intercepted a ball deep in the TWU half and broke in all alone on net before calmly slotting ball home for his second goal of the season.
  • That was as close as TRU would come however as TWU was able to see out the remainder of the clock to take home the victory.

NOTABLE
  • The WolfPack finish the season with a record of 7-7-1, their best mark in Canada West play since the 2023 season.
  • After the game the WolfPack celebrated the careers of graduating student-athletes Alesandro and Domenico Comita. Two of Kamloops' finest, the Comita brothers have been exemplary members of the 'Pack during their time with the program.

QUOTABLE (WolfPack head coach, John Antulov)
  • "I thought the guys that played tonight did really, really well. It was kind of an even match all the way through except for a couple moments there where we let ourselves down defensively, but overall it was an even game and the boys battled. It was great to see the guys that gotten as many minutes this year really be able to step up."
  • ON PREPARING FOR THE PLAYOFFS "It's just about carrying the momentum that we've had. Overall this season we have played well, it's a fairly new team that is still getting to know each other and learn from each other so we just have to take the positives from this season."
  • "Calgary is a really good squad, they've done really well on the other side so we are going to have to play our best to match them."

UP NEXT
  • The WolfPack will make their return to the postseason for the first time since 2023 next weekend when they head to Calgary to face the Prairie Division winning Dinos on Friday in a game that is still waiting for a kickoff time to be determined. Win that game and the 'Pack will advance to a Canada West semifinal on Sunday that is also hosted in Calgary.
