Season Story
KAMLOOPS – For the second time in program history the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women's soccer team will host a Canada West playoff game inside Hillside Stadium this Saturday.
Facing the Saskatchewan Huskies (8-3-3) on Saturday at noon in a Canada West quarter-final, the WolfPack (8-2-4) earned the right to host a playoff game for just the second time in team history after putting together the best regular season in the program's Canada West tenure.
Earning the second seed in the Pacific Division behind only the undefeated UBC Thunderbirds, the WolfPack will host a Huskies team that finished third in the Prairie Division.
TRU clinched second in the division last weekend when they defeated the UBCO Heat by a score of 4-2 on Friday and the TWU Spartans 3-2 on Saturday. Makenna Ford was named the WolfPack Athlete of the Week after scoring a goal and adding two assists in that victory over the Spartans.
Saskatchewan also swept their last weekend of the regular season, picking up wins of 2-0 and 3-0 over the Lethbridge Pronghorns.
The two teams have met just three times since 2020, with the most recent game between the two coming in 2023.
This is a return to the postseason for the WolfPack for the first time since 20222. The team went on a great run that season, defeating both the UVic Vikes and the MRU Cougars in a shootout to make it all the way to the Canada West Final Four.
A victory over Saskatchewan this weekend would send the WolfPack back to the Canada West Final Four which would be hosted by the highest remaining Prairie Seed in the playoffs.
