Owen Schmidt

Men's Volleyball TRU WolfPack

College transfer Schmidt big addition for WolfPack men's volleyball

COACH PAT HENNELLY
"Looking forward to adding Owen Schmidt from Beaverlodge, AB. Owen is an excellent setter with a great attitude and brings a calm presence when leading the offence. Owen has spent a year at Northwestern Polytechnic, under Lindsey Habib, developing his game."

"Owen comes from a sports family with his father (Chris Schmidt) a former NHL and Olympic hockey player and professional hockey coach. Owen's three aunts all played post secondary volleyball and his aunt Gina the current women's volleyball head coach at Simon Fraser University."

"Owen will join his cousin Elliott Rourke in our 2026 recruiting class. Owen will be a great addition for this recruiting class, bringing leadership and helping develop our young outside hitting group. This is the final piece in an already excellent 2026-27 recruiting class."

OWEN SCHMIDT
"I knew TRU was the right place after visiting Kamloops and meeting all the guys. Pat's a great guy and I think his team and TRU in general is definitely an environment where I can grow on and off the court."

"My volleyball journey started in my hometown with the local club and has most recently been playing in the ACAC with the NWP Wolves. I've been spoiled with great teammates and coaches all throughout my time playing volleyball. My first experience with 'high level' volleyball was playing for the provincial team the summer before Grade 11."

"As soon as I started following high level volleyball I was drawn to university volleyball and the Canada West division in particular. I believe it's the highest level of play in Canada and I'm fortunate to get to experience it soon."
