Season Story
KAMLOOPS – After a promising preseason that lasted for over a month the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women's soccer team will finally get the chance to open their Canada West season on the road this weekend.
Taking on the UNBC Timberwolves on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and the UBCO Heat on Saturday at noon, the games will pit the 'Pack against teams that they know all too well. TRU is 14-5-3 in conference play against the TWolves and 7-10-7 vs. the Heat with the two Interior rivals being among the opponents they have played against the most since joining Canada West in 2014.
A new-look WolfPack roster was picked ninth in the CW Coaches' Poll Wednesday morning and will be counting on a mixture of talented newcomers with a strong returning core to vault them back into the CW postseason in 2026.
Starting training camp in late July, the WolfPack compiled a record of 2-1-1 in exhibition play. They thoroughly defeated the Langara Falcons 7-0 before embarking on a six-day trip to Ontario that saw them face Queen's, Nipissing and Western. The WolfPack started that trip defeating Queen's, ranked tenth in the nation in the U SPORTS preseason poll, by a score of 2-0. TRU then tied Nipissing 1-1 before narrowly falling to the U SPORTS No. 7 ranked Western Mustangs 1-0.
The WolfPack have added eight new players to the fold ahead of the season and they will join a strong returning core that features seven players in their fourth or fifth year of eligibility.

Floor Ursem 5) and shutouts (Ursem 4) all return for TRU.
Lufo will once again be the focal point of the WolfPack attack one year making program history by earning both Canada West All-Star and U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian honours. Ursem also doubled up recognition-wise with a spot on the Canada West and U SPORTS All-Rookie teams while Sara Kuusimaki was named to the Canada West All-Rookie Team.
The WolfPack have won their last six games against UNBC in Prince George. They are searching for their first victory in Kelowna since the 2019-20 season.

Esi Lufo had the most prolific season in program history last year.
Starting all 14 games for the WolfPack, the clinical striker finished tied for the conference lead - and fifth in the nation - with nine goals.
On her way to being named a Canada West All-Star and the first-ever U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian in program history, Lufo finished the season as the program's new record holder in: career goals (12), season goals (9), career points (21) and season points (11).
