This marks the fifth year (2018-19) that the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack have had a swim program. Brad Dalke has been the head coach of the program since its inception along with his role as head coach of the Kamloops Classics swim team.
Dalke has slowly and meticulously built up the WolfPack program. He is looking for this season to be the team’s best.
Dalke returns his entire team from last year—one which raced relays for the first time in Canada West competition.
Breena Rusnell (Fort McMurray, AB) was 6 100ths of a second away from qualifying for USPORTS championships in 2017-18). She leads the women’s contingent this season along with longtime teammate Joelle Young (Fort McMurray, AB), Gabrielle Dagasso (Kamloops, BC)and Michaela Hitchins (Nanaimo, BC). Joining the women’s program this year is Gabby’s younger sister Emily.
The Uppal twins: Gursharan and Gurcharan (Kamloops, BC) are back again to round out the team.
The men’s squad has increased substantially. Much is expected from recruit Ryley McCrae (Kamloops, BC) who is ranked in the top ten of junior swimmers nationally and has already achieved USPORTS qualifying times. Nolan Paul (Mission/Chilliwack, BC) made tremendous strides in his first year of Canada West swimming.
The Gauthier twins: Matthew and Tyler (Sylvan Lake, AB) are back for their sophomore campaign and will be joined by freshman Tanner Douglas (Kamloops, BC) who will provide depth and challenge the rest of the men to be part of the travelling squad.
