Freeze spent the first part of this year studying abroad in Italy. She captured the Grunard Award for having one of the highest GPA’s at Thompson Rivers and was a U SPORTS Academic All Canadian in 2018-19. She dressed for five matches last year and played 12 matches in her rookie season starting in three of them. She won the Walt Trkla Award as a grade 12 student at South Kam and was the recipient of the Commissioners 11 award at the provincial high school championships in grade 11. Her greatest sports moment came when she made the TRU soccer team. The most offbeat thing that has happened to Gwen is that she had a job opportunity to work six weeks in Scotland and Iceland on an expedition ship over the summer. Something her teammates don’t know about her is that she speaks fluent French. Her favourite visiting pitch is UBCO because she has played on it a lot and feels comfortable there. Her words of advice to incoming players is, “Work hard and give it your all. This is our year.”
