BADMINTON THIRD IN FINAL BCCAA REGULAR SEASON TOURNEY

JT meets the badminton team Badminton team with 97.5 the River Personality J.T. The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack badminton team will enter next month's BC College Athletic Association Playoffs as the number three seed.  The WolfPack held onto that position following a showing this weekend (Jan 15-16) at Vancouver Island University. The WolfPack garnered 129 points in the team category and 119 points in individual. That gives them a three tournament total of 735.  Douglas College, who host the Provincials have 1009 points after winning again this weekend. Kwantlen Polytechnic is second at 856. Garrett Babichuk (4th year, Kelowna, BC) was third in the men's "A" flight singles. Noah Woods (4th year, Kamloops, BC) was third in the "B" flight. Noah Woods serves 1 (horizontal Nov 2010) Noah Woods Anica Arduini (2nd year, Kamloops, BC) was fourth in the woman's "A flight. Marlee Mertens (4th year, Salmon Arm, BC) won the 'B" flight. Alex Perkin (4th year, Kamloops, BC) and Babichuk came in fourth in the men's "A" flight doubles.   Mertens and Kelsey Swinden (1st year, Kamloops, BC) finished second in the "B" flight woman's doubles. Whitney Makenny up to hit birdie (vertical Nov 2010) Whitney Mc Perkin and Whitney MaKenny (5th year,Port Alberni, BC) were fourth in mixed doubles with Joey Chu (2nd year, Kamloops, BC) and Swinden placing first in the "C" flight. Marlee Mertens moves over to hit birdie 3 (horizontal Nov 2010) Marlee Mertens " We have a chance to improve to second place at the provincials," said WolfPack head coach Brad Pape. "I thought Alex and Marlee were our top players on the weekend but everyone stepped up to contribute to our result."
