WOLFPACK MVB LOSE FINAL ROUND ROBIN MATCH AT THUNDERBALL 2012

mvb vs lethbridge college (Oct 12, 2012) 017 The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack won the first set but wound up falling in their final round robin match at the Thunderball men’s volleyball tournament at UBC.  The WolfPack were playing the host Thunderbirds—and will meet them again in Saturday night’s (Oct 20) final. The final of the match was 3-1.  The scores were 25-20,22-25,25-27,22-25. The Thunderbirds finished the round robin unbeaten in three starts. TRU wound up at two wins and a loss. “Since we knew we were going to play each other tonight we mixed up our lineups,” said WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly.   [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="333"]Stuart Richey (2012-13) Andrew Snucins Stuart Richey (Andrew Snucins photo)[/caption] The WolfPack were led by Stuart Richey (3rd year, outside hitter, Gibsons, BC) with 12 kills in 37 chances. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="333"]Daniel  Kikeland Rod (2012-13 Andrew Snucins) Daniel Eikeland Rod (Andrew Snucins photo)[/caption] While Daniel Eikeland Rod (1st year, middle, Os, Norway) had 10 kills in 16 opportunities with Casey Knight (3rd year, outside hitter, Salt Spring Island, BC) had 10 kills in 31 chances and 10 digs. Snucins) Pat Hennelly (Andrew Snucins photo)[/caption] “Daniel and Graham Stoliker (2nd year, setter, Surrey, BC) were both solid in the match,” said Hennelly. The WolfPack had a big lead in the third set as they led 22-16 but failed to capitalize. Saturday’s final is also a BC/BIG Kahuna match and the last of the pre season. Going into the match, Trinity Western is unbeaten in three, UBC Okanagan is 1 and2, TRU is 1 and 1 while UBC is winless in two starts. The WolfPack kick off their 2012-13 Canada West regular season on Friday October 26 th.  They host the UBCO Heat at the Tournament Capital Centre.  Game time is 7:45 pm.
