WolfPack Men Still In Hunt, Women In Tough At CIS Curling Nationals

Both of them are female. Full Results available: http://www.curling.ca/championships/university Kelsey Rocque of Alberta Pandas (Draw 2  Mar 21,2013 Wycherley) The University of Alberta Pandas skipped by Kelsey Rocque and the University of Manitoba Bisons skipped by Breanne Meakin are unbeaten in six draws. Both won twice today and will take on each other in a ‘winner take all’ battle for first place in the final round robin game of the championships Saturday morning (Mar 24) at 9 AM PDT. Alberta Panda player delivers (Draw 3, Mar 21, 2013 Wycherley) Alberta took on the University of Guelph Gryphons (Jaimee Gardner) in the opening draw of the day and beat her 9-8 before eeking out an 8-7 decision over the Western University Mustangs (Caitlin Romain). Their afternoon game was a 10-2 drubbing of the host Thompson Rivers University WolfPack (Tiffany Krausher). womens curling 6 The ‘Pack have fallen to two wins and four losses in the tournament after losing their morning match up with St. Mary’s University Huskies (Sara Spafford) 6-4. St Mary's Huskies (Draw 3  Wycherley) The Huskies had a great day winning both their games. They needed 11 ends to dispose of UPEI 8-7. St.Mary’s has moved into third place with four wins and two losses. McMaster sweepers in action (Draw 4, Mar 21, 2013 Wycherley) The McMaster University Marauders ( Coyle) have three wins and three losses and sit in fourth place. They opened the day with a 9-3 victory over winless Western 9-3 but lost to Guelph 9-6. Guelph and TRU are tied for fifth at two wins and four losses. On the men’s side: A battle of the first place rinks in the afternoon draw saw the Alberta Golden Bears take on the University of Waterloo Warriors. The Golden Bears and skip Brendan Bottcher entered the game unbeaten in five starts. Waterloo and skip Jake Walker had suffered their first defeat earlier in the day. The battle of former Canadian Junior Men’s champions saw Walker and his rink beat Bottcher 6-5. Both rinks are now tied for first place with records of five wins and one defeat. Waterloo had dropped a shocker in the morning draw 6-5 to Mike Bryson and his Trent University Excalibur. Trent scoring twice in the 10 th end to record their first victory of the championships. (Draw 4, Mar 21, 2013 Wycherley) The final round robin games on Saturday morning have Walker taking on Darren Nelson and his Thompson Rivers University WolfPack (3-3) while Bottcher will do battle with the Manitoba Bisons and skip Steen Sigurdson (3-3). TRU lead Michael Hiram out of the hack (Draw 2  March 20, 2013 Wycherley) Sigardson and Nelson went 11 ends in the afternoon draw on this day before Manitoba prevailed 5-4. Dalhousie men watch as Lee Buott-skip finishes (Mar 20, 2013 Wycherley) Those rinks, along with Dalhousie University , skipped by Lee Buott are tied for third place. Dalhousie beat the Acadia Axemen (Robert Mayhew) in a battle of Atlantic Canada in the afternoon draw 7-6. Earlier in the day, Dalhousie fell 7-6 to Thompson Rivers. Trent's Mike Bryson delivers (Draw 2  Mar 20, 2013 Wycherley) Acadia and Trent are tied for sixth place with two wins and four losses. The Carleton University Ravens, skipped by Brent Lyon-Hatcher have a 1 and 5 record. They opened the day with a 9-5 loss to Alberta and were beaten 10-5 by Trent University. Manitoba delivers (Draw 4, Mar 21, 2013 Wycherley) Saturday’s action will see the last round robin games go at 9 am. That will be followed by tie breakers at 2 pm. Semi finals are set for 7 pm Saturday. The championship finals are set for 2 pm Sunday (Mar 24) at the Kamloops Curling Club.
