WBB winds up Ottawa tournament with loss

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women's basketball team is leaving the nation's capital without a victory.

The WolfPack wound up a three game exhibition tournament at Carleton  University on Sunday (Oct 6) with a 94-32 setback at the hands of the host Ravens.
Carleton led 28-8 after the first quarter  and were up 51-17 at the half.

Thompson Rivers scored 15 points in the second half compared to 43 for the Ravens.  The key stat for TRU was Carleton notching 46 rebounds including 16 on offense.  The WolfPack though, had 17 of their 24 boards being defensive.

Emma Piggin (5th year, guard, Kamloops, BC) led the way offensively for Thompson Rivers with 7 points. Leilani Carney (5th year, guard, Vancouver, BC) and Amira Jensen (1st year, guard, Abbotsford, BC) each had five points.  Jordon Haggerty (3rd year, guard, Saskatoon, SK ) had  four points.  Thompson Rivers played without fourth year guard Meghan Rouault (Vernon, BC) who suffered a shoulder injury in Saturday's (Oct 5) loss to UQAM.

The WolfPack have exhibition games next weekend.  They play the Douglas College Royals next Friday (Oct 11) in New Westminster, BC and then the Capilano University Blues (PACWEST) next Saturday (Oct 12) in North Vancouver, BC.

Thompson Rivers opens their 2019-20 Canada West season on November 1st at the Tournament Capital Centre when they host the Trinity Western University Spartans.
