Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Sports Information Officer

Men's Basketball drop two point decision at UBCO

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack  saw a four point half time lead evaporate and wound up falling for the first time in this young Canada West men's basketball season.
The Pack dropped a 93-91 decision to the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat Friday afternoon (Nov 8) at the Furnace in Kelowna, BC.
The game was part of the UBCO "School Day" promotion.

The Pack fall to 2-1 on  the season while the Heat improve to 1-2.  The loss snapped the WolfPack's three game winning streak against UBCO in head to head competition.
Thompson Rivers led 25-18 after the first quarter and were up 46-42 at the break.

The Pack were led offensively by Anton Bilous (5th year, guard, Cerkassy, Ukraine) with 26 points. Joe Davis (5th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) added 20 while Tyus DeVries (3rd year, guard, Chilliwack BC) notched 19.   Michael Rouault (5th year, guard, Vernon, BC) hauled down a team leading nine rebounds.

The Heat had four players in double figures led by Jacob Stokker with 19 points. Philip Okanlawon had 18 while Hafith Moallin added 116 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Sebago Jean-Charles notched 14 points.

WolfPack head coach Scott Clark stated, " When you score 91 points and got out worked you don't deserve to win.  We had zero toughness.  We turned the ball over nine times but when you get into a game of 'cops and robbers' on the road, you are rolling the dice and quite often you don't come out on top."

The Heat outscored the WolfPack 33-24 in the final quarter en route to the victory and turned over the ball 15 times to TRU's 14.  Thompson Rivers scored 44 points in the paint, had 14 points off turnovers and saw their bench contribute 26 points.   UBCO had 36 points in the paint, 16 turnover points and their bench contributed 69 points.
