Box Score The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men's basketball team dropped the opener of a two game exhibition tournament in California.
The Pack fell 86-56 to Northwestern University of Iowa (NAIA) Tuesday afternoon. The game was played at Vanguard University.
Thompson Rivers was down 51-17 at the half. The Pack's bench outscored Northwestern's 27-20 in the contest but TRU was out rebounded 36-25.
"We showed a lot of rust and were totally outplayed in the first half," said Thompson Rivers head coach
Scott Clark.
Thompson Rivers was led by
Brendan Sullivan (2
nd year, guard, Mill Bay, BC). He had 14 points.
Joe Davis (5
th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) added eight points while fellow fifth year players Micheal Rouault (guard, Vernon, BC) and
Anton Bilous (guard, Cerkassy, Ukraine) each had six points.
Richard Mageto (2
nd year, guard, Surrey, BC) had five points while
Rojhae Colbert (3
rd year, forward, Phoenix, AZ), Tyus DeVries (3
rd year guard, Chilliwack, BC) and
Simon Crossfield (1
st year, guard, Vancouver, BC) all had four.
Northwestern's top scorers were Trent Hilbrands with 25 points while Craig Sterk added 17.
The WolfPack's second exhibition game is Wednesday (Dec 18) against the host Vanguard Lions. Tip off is 4 PM PDT. Thompson Rivers returns to league play in the Canada West on Friday, January 3, 2020 when they host the Mount Royal Cougars at the Tournament Capital Centre. Tip off will be 5 PM PDT.
