WolfPack recruit Mae Hobenshield
The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack should be very strong in the nets when they open up the 2019-20 Canada West women's soccer season.

The WolfPack and head coach Mark Pennington are pleased to announce that keeper Mae Hobenshield of the BC Christian Academy in Port Coquitlam, BC will join the program in August.    Hobenshield plays for the TSS Football Club.
"The small school feel of TRU and the campus is perfect," says the 5'9" Hobenshield. " I am excited toplay at Hillside Stadium and become a part of the WolfPack family."

Hobenshield didn't play high school soccer because her school doesn't have a girls program however, she  feels that she won't have much of an adjustment moving to the Canada West level of play.  " At TSS, we play against women's teams who often have players fresh out of university. I have only seen Canada West matches on line but from want I can tell, the competition is strong and the soccer being played is very heads up and good."

Her goalkeeping coach at TSS FC the last six months has been Adrienne Cook.  " Mae is calm under pressure and performs consistence. She does well to not get beat over top. Moving to the U SPORTS level she will need to continue to improve her decision making in 1 v 1 situations.  She has been a great role model for younger goalkeepers in our program and should do well being involved in the WolfPack's community initiatives."

Cook adds, " Mae is excited for a challenge and faces them head on. She's always looking to learn and get better and is supportive towards her teammates encouraging them to push as well."

Says Pennington about his latest signing, ""I am excited to add Mae to the WolfPack squad for the coming season. Mae is a talented Goalkeeper and will definitely be an asset to the program. I am looking forward to working with her"

The only player the newest WolfPack recruit—who will be taking sciences her first year- knows from the current club is defender Rylee Singletarry who will be entering her third campaign at Thompson Rivers. Hobenshield has a long-term goal of entering into TRU's nursing program.

The other confirmed high school recruits for this coming season are Rylee Mugridge (5'6" midfield, Maple Ridge, BC-Thomas Haney Secondary/Surrey United) and Daniella Falsetta (Kamloops, BC-South Kamloops Secondary/TOFC).

The WolfPack keepers from last year: Danielle Robertson (Courtenay, BC) and Marissa Young (Calgary, AB) are expected to return.

More announcements will be forthcoming prior to the WolfPack's training camp in early August.
