COMMENTS BY COACH MARK PENNINGTON:
"To get the result was definitely our objective. It was also my first win in U SPORT as well which feels pretty good. To be honest, the girls worked so hard and created some really good chances. I can't knock the work rate and the response after last nights loss (4-0 at Manitoba). We probably felt we didn't give a good account of ourselves. Tonight was a much better 'bounce back'. It is what we asked for. The shape we played in the first half caused them some problems. Good save on a PK or we would have gone into the dressing room up two. Credit to all of them. Some players were asked to come in and give us significant minutes. And they did that.
Shae Fuoco had a great night coming in and scoring the winning goal. I thought our back four did a great job controlling the game. I thought
Cassie Morris (4
th year, Kamloops, BC) was the player of the game. She was instrumental controlling things out of the back. It was a good game for our rookie goalkeeper (
Mae Hobenshield). It was her first game in U SPORTS. Big save for her and for her to get a win is really good. "
