MSOC back into win column taking Lethbridge

—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack rallied from a 1-1 halftime tie to down the hometown University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 3-1 in Canada West men's soccer action on Sunday (Sept 22).
The victory snapped the WolfPack's five game winless streak.  TRU's record is 2-2-4. Lethbridge falls to 0-7-2.

 SYNOPSIS

The WolfPack opened the scoring in the second minute when Justin Donaldson (5th year, midfield, Kamloops, BC) became involved with some Lethbridge players deep in the box.  The first penalty shot was taken by Josh Banton (3rd year, defender, London, England).  It was saved by Lethbridge keeper Matthew Vandervoort (5th year, Calgary, AB)   but it was ruled he left the line too early).  That gave Justin Donaldson (5th year, midfield, Kamloops,BC) an opportunity. He scored lower left side.  It was his second goal of the year.

Donaldson was returning to the TRU lineup after sitting out a mandatory one match suspension for picking up a third yellow card of the year.
The Pronghorns tied the match up in extra time of the first half.  Ellis Davies (3rd year, defender, Calgary, AB) got a penalty shot of his own and beat TRU keeper Jackson Gardner (2nd year, Chilliwack, BC) for his second of the season.

In the second half, the WolfPack took the lead in the 75 th minute.  Canada West leading goal scorer James Fraser (4th year, Penticton, BC) took a through ball from Callum Etches (Romily, Stockport, England).  Fraser with nine goals on the year.

TRU's third marker came from Jan Pirrates Glasmacher (3rd year, defender/midfielder, Barcelona, Spain). The second team Canada West all-star was alone at the left side of the goal and took a cross from rookie Danzel Marican (1st year, midfield, Kamloops,BC) to score in the 84th minute.  Glasmacher's second goal of the season.

COMMENTS BY WOLFPACK HEAD COACH JOHN ANTULOV:
"A win we really needed to stay in contention. We thought that overall the team played quite well and held good possession. We made a mistake at the end of the first half and gave away a PK. That allowed them back into the game. I thought in the second half, we did a good job of controlling the game and going at them.  We finished the two opportunities that we got. We are looking forward to being at home with two tough matches against Trinity Western and Fraser Valley. We need to continue to play the way we are and minimize the mental mistakes we are making and work hard to get some results next week."
