Fraser Missing: MSOC shutout by Spartans

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men's soccer team were without the Canada West's leading scorer and it cost them on Saturday (Sept 28)
With James Fraser (4th year, forward, Penticton, BC) on the sidelines, the WolfPack were beaten 3-0 by the visiting Trinity Western University Spartans.
The Spartans got three goals from their fifth year forward Cody Franson (Lynden, WA) as they improved to 5-4 on the year.  TRU falls to 2-3-4

 SYNOPSIS

The WolfPack looked a little rattled from the get go after learning that their top scorer (Fraser with eight goals) was sidelined with a back issue.

The Spartans got on the board in the 26th minute. Off a free kick,  the ball was headed by WolfPack defender Callum Etches (1st year, Romily, Stockport, England) off the back of Trinity's Soren Disabatino (1st year, midfield, Langley, BC).  The ball wound up on the feet of Franson who went low on TRU keeper Jackson Gardner (2nd year, Chilliwack, BC).
In the 32nd minute, Trinity went up by two. Off a corner kick, Spartan captain Caleb Johnson (4th year, defender Strathmore, AB) shot the ball towards the box where there was a scramble. Franson was untouched and poked in the loose ball for his third of the season.

Franson nearly had a hat trick in the first half as in extra time, he banked it off the cross bar.

He did get his third goal in the 72 nd minute on a beautiful turn and touch goal where he split the WolfPack defenders taking a pass from Joey Seo (1st year, midfield, Victoria, BC).

The WolfPack decided to put in a number of their reserves in the second half in order to get some playing time. This included keeper Olivier Jumeau (1st year, Lancashire, England) in the 78 th minute, Midfielder Jason Millin (1st year, Port Moody, BC)  and Cole Rosenlund (1st year, middle, Port Coquitlam, BC).  Rosenlund had a great shot in the 88th minute which Spartan keeper Sebastian Colyn (3rd year, Langley, BC) raced across to save.  He made three saves in the contest.
