Women's Basketball drops first of two in Brandon

Playoff aspirations for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women's basketball hit a snag  Friday morning (Jan 17).
The WolfPack were upended by the previously winless Brandon University Bobcats 83-52.  The Bobcats move to 1-12 on the year as the Pack fall to 6-7.  Brandon led by 31 points at one point of the contest.

The game was played in the afternoon as part of Brandon's school day. There were 1200 students from 16 schools on hand at the Healthy Living Centre.
The WolfPack were led by Jordin Wilkinson (4th year, guard, North Battleford, SK) with 12 points and five rebounds. Jordon Haggerty (3rd year, guard, Saskatoon, SK) had 12 points.  Leilani Carney (5th year, guard, Burnaby, BC) contributed 9 points and four assists.

Adrianna Proulx (4th year, forward, Thompson, MB) paced Brandon with 19 points and six rebounds while Kelsey Starchuck  (1st year, forward, Regina, SK)added 13 points and three assists and Sydney Teece (1st year, forward, Regina, SK) chipped in with nine points and seven boards.

Brandon scored 38 points in the paint to TRU's 20 and had 19 points off turnovers in comparison to 12 for the WolfPack.

Said WolfPack head coach Goran Nogic afterwards, " They dominated the inside game (with their players scoring 43 compared to just two for our inside players). We had only four free throws compared to their 23 and didn't go to the line in the second, third or fourth quarters.  They simply attacked the hoop better than we did."
The game was the first for the Bobcats on home court in the 2020 calendar year.

SYNOPSIS:
