KAMLOOPS – The final week of the season is ahead for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's soccer team (0-8-2) on the hunt for their first win of 2021 when they take on the UNBC Timberwolves (1-8-1) in Prince George this weekend.
The chance to leapfrog the Timberwolves for sixth place in the division still remains as the two teams are set to do battle with bragging rights on the line.
It will be a well-rested WolfPack squad that makes the journey north. After a difficult weekend that saw them lose by scores of 3-0 and 3-1 to the Fraser Valley Cascades two weeks ago, the team was on a bye last weekend.
The Timberwolves meanwhile, enter the weekend off a pair of losses to those very same Cascades. UNBC fell by scores of 2-1 and 1-0 in Abbotsford in their last Canada West action.
These teams met twice in 2019, with a 1-0 UNBC victory in Prince George being followed up by a 0-0 draw in Kamloops.
3 Things
1: All four of the WolfPack soccer games this weekend can be watched live at
The Den. The on-campus eatery is opening specifically on Saturday and Sunday so that WolfPack fans have a place to safely gather and watch the games.
2: A win and a tie this weekend would see the WolfPack finish in a program-best sixth place in their division for just the second time in team history.
3: Goalkeeper
Danielle Robertson has moved into sole possession of third in CW history in career saves with 309.
By the Numbers
4912 – Nearly half (4912 of 9903) of the minutes played for the WolfPack this season have been by players in their first year of eligibility.
10 – It should be a defensive battle this weekend. The two teams have combined to score 10 goals through their 20 games played this season.
5-4-2 – The series between these two rivals has been incredibly close. The 'Pack hold a slim 5-4-2 advantage in Canada West play.
Scouting the Timberwolves
The Timberwolves are led in attack by Kjera Hayman. The forward from Penticton has scored three of the team's six goals this season. In net Brooke Molby has played every minute of the campaign with her 73 saves being good enough for second most in the conference.
