KAMLOOPS – It was a wire-to-wire victory for the University of Fraser Valley Cascades as they dispatched the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team 72-31 on Saturday night.
After hanging tough with the first-place Cascades the night prior, the WolfPack offence went ice cold on Saturday night, shooting just 15.7 per cent as a team.
Kyla Smith was a bright spot for TRU, going 3-5 from long distance en route to putting up 11 points and three rebounds. First year forward
Anneke Cairnie battled on the glass all night long to pick up eight rebounds.
Deanna Tuchscherer had a game-high 24 points for the Cascades with Victoria Jacobse adding 15 and eight rebounds.
The WolfPack trailed by just six points after the first quarter but a dominant Cascades run in the second frame put the game out of reach. Fraser Valley started the frame on a 10-2 run and held TRU to just five points in the quarter to jump out to a lead that would never be threatened the rest of the night.
The WolfPack are on a bye next weekend before returning to action on November 26 when they host the Trinity Western Spartans.
