KAMLOOPS — He used to be a multi-sport player, but David Usuomon narrowed his focus to one sport and is now bringing his basketball aspirations to Thompson Rivers University (TRU).

He joins the TRU WolfPack in fall 2021, coming to Kamloops after playing guard/wing with George Harris Prep Academy in Mississauga, Ont. Earlier in school, the 6-foot-5 Usuomon also played volleyball and did track.

On the basketball court, Usuomon has been on many regional and tournament all-star teams.

"I chose TRU because it gives me a chance to further mature and become independent, being far from home. As well, the campus and overall atmosphere gave me a feeling that I would get a great experience," he said.

WolfPack Men's Basketball Head Coach Scott Clark said Usuomon brings well-rounded skills to the team.

"We are excited to add a player of David's quality. He's a good player, good size, good student, good athlete, and in doing our background check, he's also a very good citizen."

During his time playing for the WolfPack, Usuomon plans on pursuing a degree in finance or business management.

"Athletically, I hope to be a great member of the team to help get wins, bring great energy and encourage the team to reach our full potential. I want to better myself as an athlete, both mentally and physically. I hope to keep a good team environment and build the chemistry too," he said.

"Academically, I want to build great connections with professors and students. This would give me the ability to fully grasp the inclusive learning environment that TRU provides."
