KAMLOOPS – It was a three-point barrage for the visiting UBC Okanagan Heat inside the TCC Saturday night as the visitors poured in 11long-distance shots in a 91 to 56 win over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team.
The Heat shot the lights out in the game, hitting on 48.6 per cent of their attempts from the floor as a team and 47.8 per cent of their shots from long range.
"I thought we saw some growth in different areas of our game this weekend. At times our defence was well executed but we struggled to maintain energy and consistency," said WolfPack head coach Todd Warnick. "Offensively we will try our best build on some of the positives from Friday's performance and learn from our mistakes."
Three members of the WolfPack hit double-digits in scoring in the game.
Priyanca Sundher led the way with 14 points on 5-9 shooting.
Josie Mackie and
Megan Rouault each edded 11 while Mackie also finished with eight rebounds.
Sofia Ainsa Lluch was dominant for the Heat, finishing with 16 points and going 4-7 from long distance. Lauren Foullong added another 14 while Jaeli Ibbetson had 13.
The Heat jumped out to a 43-25 lead at the half and never looked back in the game as they completed the weekend sweep of TRU.
The WolfPack (0-4) will now hit the road next weekend looking for their first win of the season when they take on the Lethbridge Pronghorns in Lethbridge.
