Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | TRU WolfPack

Wesmen lead wire-to-wire, down WolfPack

KAMLOOPS – For the second night in a row the host Winnipeg Wesmen proved to be too much for the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team to handle as the 'Pack fell 73-44 on the road.

"We had the privilege of playing the defending U SPORTS silver medallists and now have a better understanding of the level of play needed to compete at the elite level in Canada West," said WolfPack head coach Todd Warnick.

A 22-9 deficit after the first quarter proved to be too much for the WolfPack to overcome, though TRU did put together a strong fourth quarter that saw them outscore Winnipeg 12-10.

Megan Rouault hit double-digits in points for the 'Pack. The veteran captain ended the game with 10 points and six rebounds. Not far behind Rouault was Makeba Taylor who added nine with Kelsey Cruz also scoring seven.

"We took some steps forward from some individual performance perspectives and showed better defensively, but are still working towards finding some consistency night in and night out," said Warnick.

TRU will now enter their bye weekend before playing their first home games of the season November 18-19 when they welcome the UBC Okanagan Heat to the TCC.
